Nigeria donates building to WAHO to house the Regional Centre for Disease Control

Abuja, Nigeria, October 24 ' The Federal Government of has on this Tuesday October 24, 2017 handed over a building to the West African Health Organization (WAHO) to host the ECOWAS Regional Center for Disease Control (RCDC).

Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, the Nigeria CDC (NCDC) Chief Executive Officer, performed the administrative handover of the building to serve as the headquarters of the ECOWAS RCDC.

Mr.Stephen Nartey, Commissioner for General Administration and Conference of the ECOWAS Commission received the keys on behalf of the Director General of WAHO. The ceremony took place in the presence of some staff of the NCDC and WAHO Director for Internal Services.

In handing over the key to the building, Dr. Chikwe said the building was in fulfilment of their [Nigeria] promise to WAHO. '??Over the next few weeks, we will work towards fulfilling our promise of furnishing the building'?? he added while expressing the hope that '??with this we can now move forward with the RCDC'??.

He hinted that the ceremonial handover will be conducted later by the Honorable Minister for Health to the Director General of WAHO.
