Project Objective

Increase access to and use of harmonized community-level services for the prevention and treatment of malaria and selected neglected tropical diseases in the cross-border areas of beneficiary countries.

 

Indicators of the Project Development Objective

  1. % of target districts with at least 70% coverage of children under 5 years old during 3 or more rounds of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention
  2. % of children under 5 with fever in the last two weeks who received the rapid diagnostic test in target districts
  3. % of target districts organizing the annual integrated treatment campaign for schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminths among school age children aged 5-14
  4. % of border districts that initiated a SMC campaign within two weeks of planned time
  5. Number of project beneficiaries, including (%) women

 

Components

  • C1:  Improve regional collaboration for better results in all countries.
  • C2: Support the coordinated implementation of malaria and NTD interventions along the border areas;
  • C3: Strengthen institutional capacities of  WAHO

 

Indicators of intermediate results

  1. Extent to which Coordinating Committee members indicate that their regional collaboration has harmonized specific aspects of malaria and NTD program management (average rating) ;
  2. The learning/evaluation outcomes of project implementation are reintegrated into the project plan every year (O/N);
  3. Number of countries submitting their procurement plans on time to the Regional Procurement Centre before the set deadline;
  4. Children under five receiving at least 3 SMC treatments compared to the targeted number (percentage) ;
  5. Coverage of chemoprevention among eligible population in target districts (percentage) - disaggregated for: onchocerciasis, schistosomiasis, soil-transmitted helminths, lymphatic filariosis and trachoma ;
  6. % of HD with local officials involved in campaign planning ;
  7. % of Community Health Workers who received a quarterly supervisory visit during which their records or reports were reviewed ;
  8. Number of countries that have new / revised standards / guidelines for the recruitment and retention of community health workers / volunteer distributors;
  9. Completeness of target districts reporting on SMC and MDA-NTD distribution (%);
