As with other ECOWAS countries, and in line with his mandate to advocate Governments of these countries, the Director General of WAHO met the Speaker of Parliament of Mali, His Lordship Issiaka SIDIBE, who granted him audience on 24 July 2017.
Dr Xavier CRESPIN went to discuss it with Head of the Malian parliament, the health issues and the operations of his Institution. He was accompanied by the member of Parliament, Boubakar D. KEITA, chairman of the Health and Social Development Committee of the malian parliament, by Dr Idrissa Maiga, Executive Assistant to the Director General and by Dr Mama COUMARE, the WAHO Focal Point in Mali,
The issues discussed were disease control in general and particularly epidemics, resource mobilisation to finance health in ECOWAS countries. Also discussed were issues regarding the operations and prospects for the West African Health Organisation. They also considered the appraisal of the activities of the Institution in ECOWAS countries in general and more particularly in Mali, which at the time was host to a series of activities WAHO initiated.
On the various issues raised, the Speaker of Parliament of Mali presented his vision and formulated pieces of advice to the Director General of WAHO.
